California Licensed Therapist for Teens & Adults

Struggling with Intense Emotions

dark path traveling up with a light at end of tunnel

You’re fuckin’ tired of...

Living in what feels like HELL.

Self-hatred that won’t let up.
Intense emotions that come out of nowhere.

Pushing away the people you love.
Hearing, “You’re too sensitive” or “You’re overreacting.”

Feeling like no one really gets you.

Avoiding problems instead of solving them.
Acting without thinking—and then feeling like sh*t about it.

Uncontrollable sadness. Explosive anger.
Living in a mind that feels like it’s turned against you.

If the above describes YOU, you’ve come to the right place.

Therapy Office
psychotherapy office in Fresno, California, located near Fig Garden Village in Fresno, California. Mental health clinic owned by Hmong therapist; waiting room in a private practice office
Living room with beige sofa, striped and plain pillows, a round coffee table with candles and a small plant, a black cabinet with decorative items, a large potted plant, and wall art of potted flowers.

I help teens and adults who are ready to get UNSTUCK.

I never said this would be easy. Let’s face it—if it was easy, you wouldn’t be reading this right now.

The goal of therapy here isn’t just to feel better. It’s to get better at feeling.

I’m not your typical "talk therapist." You won’t be staring at a blank face asking, “How does that make you feel?” You won’t be talking to a wall.

You get to be YOU, and I get to be ME.

This is a collaborative process. We’re working together toward YOUR life worth living goals. No time for BULLSHIT.

You can expect a-ha moments, laughter, tears, days when you don’t want to come—and still show up anyway.

You'll have weekly homework to reinforce what we work on in session. Why? Because real change happens between sessions. And this helps ensure that the progress you make here actually sticks.

Clients who graduate from therapy with me walk away with more clarity, deeper self-awareness, and a greater ability to manage and tolerate their emotions.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve helped individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional sensitivity, addictive behaviors, self-harm, and relationship issues.

I’ve had my own mental health struggles, too—and they’ve inspired me to become the therapist I am today. So know this: You are NOT alone. We all have our story to tell.

A little about me:
I’m a first-generation Hmong American woman. I love a good ink pen and long bike rides with my kids. The smell of melted butter and fresh-ground coffee can melt away even the hardest day.

Ready to take the leap?
Let’s fuckin’ do this.

DBT Therapist in Fresno; Hmong Therapist in Fresno

Welcome

My name is Pa Kou (pronounced Pa Koo). I go by P.K.

“ Many of us have been running all our lives. Practice stopping.”

- Thich Naht Hanh

A white heart painted on a rough concrete wall.

YOU'LL KNOW THERAPY IS WORKING WHEN:

Your mind is not in control of you.

You are able to tolerate pain, difficult urges, and intense emotions—without making things worse.

You can navigate relationship conflict more skillfully and with less regret.

You can pause. breathe. respond—instead of react.

You have the ability to choose differently, even in the hard moments.

MY APPROACH

I don’t believe therapy is a life sentence.

No one wants to be miserable forever—and you don’t have to be.

Yes, change can be difficult.
But it’s not impossible.

Any behavior that can be learned can also be unlearned

with the right support and skills. That’s where I come in.

What Working With Me Looks Like?

I meet with clients once a week, every week, until you meet your treatment goals.
We don’t just talk about change—we practice it.

You’ll learn evidence-based tools that you can apply immediately in your life.

This isn’t therapy that drags on without purpose.
We’re focused, goal-driven, and committed to helping you build a life you don’t need to escape from.

I Use DBT as My Main Framework

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—a proven, evidence-based therapy model that helps you:

  • Regulate your emotions

  • Tolerate distress

  • Improve your relationships

  • Stay grounded and mindful in daily life

I received foundational DBT training in 2019 and completed intensive DBT training in 2025 from BTECH. I consult biweekly with a team of intensively trained DBT therapists to ensure that my work stays sharp, ethical, and effective.

Please note- I do not offer full adherent DBT at this time, as I’m not running a DBT skills group. What I offer is individual DBT therapy—one-on-one, skills-focused work tailored to your goals.
